#MovRioDouro is a citizens’ movement in defence of the rivers in the Douro basin, which brings together people, members of the scientific community, groups and associations to defend the rivers. Acts on the basis of an environmental and citizens’ agenda, influencing decision-makers and society to bring about effective change in the Douro basin.
Call to action
#MovRioDouro has been organising activities with the broader public, such as Jornadas do Douro, a day of conferences and discussion about different issues in Douro. It had 2 editions so far. Every summer, the movement brings the topic of the water polution in fluvial beaches, alerting the local populations, the media and pressuring the municipalities to take action. It has also run a campaign to bring awareness to the impacts of wine production – an ex-libris of the region – in river ecosystems. It has organised informative walks, workshops and webinars.
