Empowering Communities: The Project Training of Trainers in Cubillos del Sil

Set 25, 2024

From September 17th to 21th, 2024, the village of Cubillos del Sil in the Castile and León region of Spain hosted a significant event for the Living Rivers project: the “Training of Trainers”, bringing together partner organizations and participants committed to promoting environmental education.

Partners and future trainers immersed in innovative approaches to non-formal education while testing the project’s outcomes with future trainers, ensuring that diverse perspectives were considered before the project’s conclusion.

The days in Cubillos del Sil were filled with dynamic activities designed to foster collaboration and learning. Participants engaged in four immersive escape rooms and workshops that tackled pressing issues such as water pollution, urban pressure, the water cycle, and biodiversity. These hands-on experiences encouraged teamwork and critical thinking while providing a fun and engaging way to explore complex environmental topics.

Participants had the opportunity to play the Living Rivers board game and test both the web platform and community platform, highlighting the importance of community engagement in addressing environmental challenges.

The enthusiasm and creativity brought by the participants were palpable throughout the event. Many left with new insights and a renewed passion for their work, eager to share their experiences with others. The Training of Trainers event was not just a concluding chapter for the Living Rivers project; it was celebration of collaboration, innovation, and commitment to environmental education!
