The third transnational partner meeting is hosted in Palermo!

Apr 26, 2023

On April the 12th and the 13th, the consortium of the LIVING RIVERS project (2021-1-PT01-KA220-ADU-000033405), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme – Cooperation partnerships in adult education, met to keep on the project’s activities. The partners discussed the current activities as well as the next steps and had the opportunity to visit the Sicilian River Oreto.

First, the consortium analysed the state of the art of the 3 main outputs:

  • IO1: Development of the app to enjoy, learn and protect the river and its state of development and further collaboration in order to achieve a first usable draft;
  • IO2: “Environment and participation” – Educational tool kit and the development of each single tool, for instance the board game that has been shared in its first complete overview;
  • IO3 “Rivers for all” – Participatory web-platform and the organisation of its first version.

Moreover, the partners had the opportunity to physically visit the estuary of the Oreto River, now going through a phase of positive and regenerative evolution. Until some years ago, the river was a particularly polluted habitat noxious for both biodiversity and the quality of its water, but thanks to a network of local and governmental stakeholders its conservation state is now being restored.

The consortium also managed to visit the marine Eco-Museum “Mare Memoria Viva”, located close by the river. The consortium had the privilege to share with different educators of the Eco-Museum a full afternoon to learn how they work, their activities on the river and how it will be possible to find synergies between the scope of the project and the local stakeholders.

Two project managers per organisation joined these fruitful days, that hosted specifically: Rosto Solidário (Portugal), Rede Inducar (Portugal), Fundación ASPAYM Castilla y León (Spain) and CEIPES – Centro Internazionale per la Promozione dell’Educazione e lo Sviluppo (Italy).

Thanks to the two days, the organizations involved are actively pursuing the broader scope of Living Rivers, which is empowering citizens and communities through their participation in environmental protection activities!
